SOBERBIO XII was brought to Canada in July 2005 as my potential dressage partner. I found this superb stallion, bred by Yeguada Villa Mazzara, quite by accident while looking for something completely different for a client. He literally “stopped me in my tracks” and I was spellbound from that point on! In fact, I had no intention at the time to purchase anything, let alone a son of the legendary Ebanisto, Champion of Spain and successful Grand Prix Dressage stallion. But I was at the mercy of the Gods and here I am, a few years later, with the horse of my dreams!!

SOBERBIO XII is not only impeccably bred with pure GUARDIOLA and ESCALERA lines but possesses the best temperament of any horse I have ever had the pleasure to work with. He is not only a gentleman, an ideal lady’s stallion, but so kind and generous of spirit that my young children can ride and handle him quite safely. To say that this horse exceeds one’s expectations is an understatement. He is respectful and sweet yet gives the rider the feeling of driving a finely tuned sports car! He exudes power, elegance, agility and exhibits it all with ease and grace. He is an athlete and dancer!

It is well known within the Andalusian breeding community that the combination of GUARDIOLA  and ESCALERA is a movement producing combination. It’s the 1 -  2 hit of dressage bred Andalusians. It is therefore no surprise that SOBERBIO XII is one of the best moving stallions available to discerning breeders today.

SOBERBIO XII stands in good company with top stallions in the USA like Faralay (also by Ebanisto, and bred by Yeguada Villa Mazzara) and Dominante XXIX (bred by Yeguada Villa Mazzara and the first Qualified stallion in the USA).

The following is a brief historical description of the GUARDIOLA Stud:

"HEREDEROS DE SALVADOR GUARDIOLA FANTONI"
Created by Mr. Salvador GUARDIOLA Fantoni in 1943 with animals from the Roberto Osborne Stud Farm in Estepa: founding stock included 2 groups of mares and 3 stallions from the "pure bit" bloodline (Bocado line). The actual stud farm facilities are found in the country estates of El Pinganilo in Utrera and Las Isletones, in the middle of the marshlands of the Guadalquivir River. Horses include those that have won awards CENTELLA V Spanish Champion, CAMELA Spanish Champion. They have also won Best Stud Prizes in Seville and Malaga."

BLOODLINES DE LA ESCALERA
The bloodlines of ESCALERA are among the best known in the PRE world. Recognised and valued among breeders in Spain and overseas, the records of the family name De La Escalera, as connected to the Pure Spanish horse, can be traced back for nearly 300 years.

Within the ESCALERA brands we find those of brother and sister, Jose Luis de la ESCALERA , and Maria Fernanda de la ESCALERA . As joint heirs, the original stud was divided betwen them in 1973.

Both siblings have continued with the quality of their history, concentrating on producing PREs of classical morphology and working functionality, together with beauty and nobility.

The ESCALERA bloodlines, and both the de la ESCALERA studs, are known for the bay and black coats of the horses they breed. The common factor of these stud brands is the ladder - ESCALERA in spanish. That of Don Jose Luis shows five rungs on the ladder, that of Doña Maria Fernanda three steps and a horseshoe surround.
